Dr. Peter Ngan has been installed as the inaugural Branson-Maddrell Endowed Professor in Orthodontics. He joined the WVU SOD faculty in 1994, received his D.D.S. from the Harvard University School of Dental Medicine and certificates in orthodontics, pediatric dentistry and hospital dentistry from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine/Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Dr. Ngan is a Fellow of the American College of Dentists, the International College of Dentists and the Pierre Fauchard Academy. He is also a member of the Angle East (Eastern Component of the Edward H. Angle Society), the International Association for Dental Research, the American Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Education Association, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Association for Dental Research. He has published more than 150 original research and clinical papers in refereed journals and 170 abstracts, including contributions to several monographs and textbooks. He focuses on the early treatment of dental and skeletal malocclusions, and his research interest includes growth and development, biology of tooth movement, dentofacial orthopedics, orthodontic appliance therapy, oral implantology, orthodontic bonding systems and adult interdisciplinary treatment.

He earned his BDS in 2011 from Riyadh Colleges, Saudi Arabia and Master degree in 2018 from University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio (UTHSCSA).

Dr.GuoQiang Guan is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Orthodontics from University of Pennsylvania.

Dr.GuoQiang Guan is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Orthodontics from University of Pennsylvania. He earned his DDS degree from Peking University(1988), Certificate Orthodontics from Okayama University(1998) and State University of New York at Buffalo(2008). Dr.Guan has received many honors include Biomedical Research Award from AAOF and research fund from UB Research Foundation,SUNY. Now Dr.Guan is leading three major research projects, including craniofacial tissue regeneration via stem cell technology, TMJ pain-inflammation, and a project-investigation of tooth agenesis. The research findings are published in the peer-reviewed journals, e.g. American Journal of Orthodontics & Orthopedics, European Journal of Orthodontics, Angle Orthodontist, Life Sciences, Seminars in Orthodontics, Journal of Stem Cells & Development, Arthritis and Rheumatism.

Dr.Arif Salman is an American Board of Periodontology certified Periodontist and Dental Implant Surgeon serving as Chair and Graduate Periodontics Program Director at West Virginia University School of Dentistry.

Dr.Arif Salman is an American Board of Periodontology certified Periodontist and Dental Implant Surgeon serving as Chair and Graduate Periodontics Program Director at West Virginia University School of Dentistry. Upon completion of his dental and residency training in India, Dr. Salman moved to the US to pursue an implant fellowship program, supported by a scholarship from International Team for Implantology. Later, he completed Periodontics Residency program at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Salman has significant patient care, teaching and research experience for more than 20 years. Dr. Salman was honored with the Leslie M. Salkin Achievement award from American Board of Periodontology for achieving top score in the oral examination. He is very active in organized dentistry and is currently representing the American Academy of Periodontology in ADA’s Commission for Continuing Education Provider Recognition Program. He is a fellow of International Team for Implantology, American College of Dentists and Pierre Fauchard Academy. His research interests include computer-assisted implant surgery, implant loading protocols, hard and soft tissue augmentation around natural teeth and dental implants. Dr. Salman lectures nationally and internationally and has many peer reviewed publications to his credit.
