Dr. Chung is Chauncey M. F. Egel Endowed Chair and Director of Postdoctoral Orthodontics Program of the Department of Orthodontics, University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. He served as the Director of the American Board of Orthodontics (2010-2018), and the President of the American Board of Orthodontics (2017-2018). Dr. Chung received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 1986 and Orthodontic Certificate/Master of Science in Oral Biology in 1992 from the University of Pennsylvania. He has received numerous awards and honors, including the University of Pennsylvania Research Foundation Award, and the American Association of Orthodontists Award as the Co-chair of the Scientific Program of the Annual Session of the American Association of Orthodontists in Washington DC, 2018 and Miami, 2022. In addition, he has published numerous articles in refereed journals. Dr. Chung has been an active member of the E. H. Angle Society of Orthodontists since 2003, and a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics since 2002.

Dr. Wenjing Yu is an American Board of Orthodontics board-certified orthodontist and a faculty member of the Department of Orthodontics at the School of Dental Medicine, University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Yu finished her dental education and Orthodontics specialty training at West China School of Stomatology, Sichuan University, China, in 2015. Following her graduation, she moved to the United States to pursue further education. She completed her dual training in basic research and post-doc Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics specialty at the School of Dental Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, in 2022. Dr. Yu is experienced in a wide range of orthodontic techniques, including traditional and self-ligating bracket systems, clear aligner systems, lingual bracket systems, and TAD-assisted orthodontic and orthopedic treatment. Dr. Yu is also active in research and interested in the biology of orofacial stem cells and the cellular response to orthodontic stimuli. She is an active member of the International/American Association for Dental Research, the American Association of Orthodontics, the International Orthodontics Foundation, and the Middle Atlantic Society of Orthodontists.

Dr. Hyeran Helen Jeon is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthodontics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. Immediately after her graduation from the Doctor of Science in Dentistry (DScD) and certificate program in Orthodontics at Penn, Dr. Jeon joined the faculty at Penn in 2016. Her main research interests are: (1) bone remodeling, (2) wound healing, (3) maxillary expansion using temporary anchorage devices (TADs), (4) skeletal Class II growth modification, and (5) clear aligner treatment. Since her DScD, Dr. Jeon has been strongly involved in student research mentoring. With her clinical background in both Orthodontics and Periodontics, she teaches both predoctoral and postdoctoral students at Penn. Dr. Jeon currently practices Orthodontics at the Penn Dental Family Practice at Locust Walk.

Dr. Nipul Tanna has dual specialty training in Orthodontics and Periodontics. After completing his DMD and an Advanced Education in General Dentistry program, Dr. Tanna accepted a full-time faculty position and engaged in clinical practice, clinical teaching, research and administration at The University of Pennsylvania. With a strong desire to pursue advanced dental education, Dr. Tanna completed specialty training in both Periodontics and Orthodontics and also completed a Masters in Oral Biology. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics as well as the American Board of Periodontics. Dr. Tanna currently engages in clinical practice, clinical teaching, research and is the Program Director of the combined Orthodontics/Periodontics program at The University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Chenshuang Li is an Assistant Professor and Clinical Director in the Department of Orthodontics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. She finished dental school training at the Xi’an Jiaotong University in 2011, completed her Ph.D. training in Orthodontics at the School and Hospital of Stomatology at Peking University in collaboration with the UCLA Dental and Craniofacial Research Institute in 2016, finished her orthodontic specialty training at UCLA School of Dentistry in 2019, and obtained DMD from University of Pennsylvania in 2022. Dr. Li’s researches primary focus on the functional investigation of molecules involved in craniofacial tissue development and regeneration, as well as 3D imaging analysis. Dr. Li has co-authored more than seventy manuscripts published in top peer-reviewed journals such as The Journal of Clinical Investigation, Biomaterials, The Journal of Bone and Mineral Research, Stem Cells, and The Journal of Dental Research. During the past 5 years, Dr. Li was awarded the 2018 AAO First place winner of the Charley Schultz Resident Scholar Award, the 2019 AAO Thomas M. Graber Award of Special Merit, 2021 ORS/ON Foundation Orthoregeneration Award, 2021 IADR Innovation Award for Excellence in Orthodontics Research, 2021 AAOF Orhan C. Tuncay Teaching Fellowship Award, 2021 AAO Full-time Faculty Fellowship Award, 2023 ADEA Leadership Institute Phase V Leadership Development Tuition Scholarship, 2023 AAOF James L.
