Dr. Peter Ngan

Dr. Peter Ngan is West Virginia University Branson-Maddrell Endowed Professor and Chairman of the Department of Orthodontics, West Virginia University, School of Dentistry.

 Dr. Ngan is an Honorary Professor in the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Hong Kong and a Guest Professor at Wuhan University, School of Stomatology, China. Dr. Ngan holds a dental degree from Harvard University, School of Dental Medicine and Certificates in Orthodontics, Pediatric Dentistry and Hospital Dentistry from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Dental Medicine / Children Hospital of Philadelphia. Dr. Ngan’s research focuses on growth and development, appliance therapy and implantology. He has published over 160 peer-reviewed articles and 180 abstracts. He is a member of the Angle East (Eastern Component of the Edward H. Angle Society), a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.

Dr. Kang Ting

Dr. Kang Ting currently is an adjunct faculty at the ADA Forsyth Institute, Cambridge, MA, USA.

 Dr. Eric Kang Ting graduated from Harvard school of Dental Medicine with high honor and the gold award with DMD in 1991 and PhD, and an orthodontic certificate from Harvard in 1994. He currently is an adjunct faculty at the ADA Forsyth Institute, Cambridge, MA, USA. He was formerly the Academic Senate Tenured Professor since 2002 and founding chair in the Division of Growth and Development at UCLA. The Division comprises the Sections of Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry. Besides his teaching and clinical responsibilities in Orthodontics. Dr. Ting has google scholar h-index of 62 – as one of the top three highest orthodontists globally. Ting’s original research has received well over 12,000 citations. It has been published in many leading journals, including Nature Communications, Journal of Clinical Investigation, PLOS One, and Biomaterials, etc as the principal author. Dr. Ting has been served as a PARC AAOF committee member since 2015. In 2018, Professor Ting and his team received the International Space Station (ISS) Innovation Award for Biology and Medicine for Development of NELL-1 Bone-Growth Systemic Therapy by the American Astronautical Society. Dr. Ting has received over US 30M in funding from the US government as a key investigator in his career.  Stemmed from his research, two novel biologic drugs are currently in FDA clinical trials for scar reduction, and bone regeneration respectively.

Dr. Ben Wu
Chief Scientific Officer The ADA Forsyth Institute, Cambridge, USA
Prof. Ben Wu is Chief Science Officer at the ADA Forsyth Institute. He received his Advanced Prosthodontics training from Harvard School of Dental Medicine, and his Ph.D. in Materials Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he published the first papers on three dimensional printing for tissue engineering scaffolds and drug delivery devices.

He was recruited to UCLA where he rose the ranks to simutaneous chairmanship in two top schools (Bioengineering in the UCLA Samueli School of Engineering, and Advanced Prosthodontics in UCLA School of Dentistry).  He was also Director of the UCLA Weintraub Center for Reconstructive Biotechnology, and Professor in the Department of Materials Science and the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at UCLA. His research focused on the understanding of biomaterials-tissue interactions, and advanced manufacturing of novel materials at scale.  His research program has produced over 250 peer-reviewed articles, >30 patents, and >22,000 citations. He has been continuously funded by the NIH and NSF for over 20 years and three of his start-ups have FDA clearance.  He serves on numerous advisory boards for government, academia,  industry, and non-profit, and is an active clinical prosthodontist.

Dr. Tingxi Wu
Director of Orthodontic and Research Faculty member The ADA Forsyth Institute, Cambridge, USA
Dr. Tingxi Wu is currently serving as the Director of Orthodontics and Research Faculty member at ADA Forsyth Institute.

She is the president-elect of IADR Orthodontic Research Group in 2024. Dr. Wu obtained her DDS degree from West China School of Stomatology, Sichuan University. Following her DDS training, she acquired her PhD degree and orthodontic specialty training at University of California, Los Angeles. Dr. Wu is actively involved in translational and clinic studies, including development of preventive and therapeutic tools against orthodontic-related oral infectious diseases and craniofacial deformity. The novel technologies developed by Dr. Wu were licensed by several dental companies. In addition, Dr. Wu’s basic research focuses on using molecular approaches to study oral microbial pathogenesis with a specific focus on microbial biofilm, inter-species interaction and signal transduction. She has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and presented her research at national and international conferences. Dr. Wu has received awards and funding from National Institutes of Health, American Association of Orthodontists, American Association of Orthodontists Foundation.

Dr. Bing Fang is a Fellow of the International College of Dentists (ICD). She is also a member of the American Angle Orthodontic Society-North Atlantic.

 Dr. Fang is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and Fellow of Orthodontics International Examiner, Vice Chairman of Oral Aesthetics Society of Chinese Stomatological Association, Vice President of Oral Plastic and Cosmetic Branch of China Plastic and Cosmetic Association and Chairman of the Orthodontic Society of Shanghai Stomatological Association.

Dr. Ching-Chang Ko

Dr. Ko has been associated with academic bioengineering and clinical orthodontics in various capacities over the last 30 years.

 He is presently the Professor and Vig/William Endowed Chair of the Division of Orthodontics, Ohio State University College of Dentistry in Columbus, OH. He received his dental training first at Kaohsiung Medical College, and then PhD in Bioengineering at University of Michigan and then Orthodontic Specialty from University of Minnesota. He was an Assistant Professor of Oral Biology at Minnesota Dental Research Center for Biomechanics and Biomaterials at University of Minnesota, Minneapolis US, from 1994 to 2006, and Professor in the Department of Orthodontics at University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill (UNC) from 2006 to 2020. Before leaving UNC, he served as Program Director (2013-2019) and Chairman (2017-2020) at UNC. Many of his students received awards from American Association of Orthodontists Foundation under his direct mentorship. Dr. Ko has contributed more than 170 publications to the scientific literature in biomaterial/biomechanical sciences, orthodontics, and bone biology. He has co-authored more than 10 book chapters and recently co-edited the book entitled “Machine Learning in Dentistry”. His research in bone tissue engineering and orthodontic bioengineering was funded by NIH. He maintains a faculty clinical practice at OSU.

Dr Chung H. Kau is Professor and Chair at the Department of Orthodontics, University of Alabama at Birmingham.
 He also holds academic appointments as Senior Scientist at the Global Center for Craniofacial, Oral and Dental Disorders and UAB Microbiome Center. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics(US), Specialist Orthodontist on the Singapore Dental Council and the General Dental Council (United Kingdom). He serves as the Director of the Craniofacial Orthodontia Clinic in partnership with the Children’s Rehabilitation Service and Medicaid of Alabama and is the craniofacial orthodontist on the Cleft Craniofacial Team at Children’s Hospital of Alabama. He enjoys practicing clinical orthodontics has a special interest in craniofacial anomalies and dento-facial deformities. He is also a researcher with a keen interest in clinical translational research focusing on technology driven orthodontic applications, dent-facial deformities, juvenile idiopathic arthritis, accelerated tooth movement and 4D jaw tracking. At present, he is Principal Investigator on several NIH and Industry grants and has a research involvement in excess of US$4+ million dollars. He actively contributes and publishes in the orthodontic literature and has over 450 peer-reviewed publications, conference papers and lectures. He has over 175 invited presentations and lectures in over 50 countries. In 2011, he was awarded the King James IV Professor by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh where he also served as the International Advisor for the USA and examiner for the MFDS and MOrth examinations. He has also been featured on CBS Nightly News, WBRC (Alabama) and ABC33 (Alabama) on various Orthodontic topics.

Dr. Chun-Hsi Chung
Professor of Orthodontics, Chauncey M. F, Egel Endowed Chair Director of Postdoctoral Orthodontics program, Department of orthodontics, University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine

Dr. Chung is Chauncey M. F. Egel Endowed Chair and Director of Postdoctoral Orthodontics Program of the Department of Orthodontics, University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. He served as the Director of the American Board of Orthodontics (2010-2018), and the President of the American Board of Orthodontics (2017-2018). Dr. Chung received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 1986 and Orthodontic Certificate/Master of Science in Oral Biology in 1992 from the University of Pennsylvania. He has received numerous awards and honors, including the University of Pennsylvania Research Foundation Award, and the American Association of Orthodontists Award as the Co-chair of the Scientific Program of the Annual Session of the American Association of Orthodontists in Washington DC, 2018 and Miami, 2022. In addition, he has published numerous articles in refereed journals. Dr. Chung has been an active member of the E. H. Angle Society of Orthodontists since 2003, and a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics since 2002.

Prof. Conchita Martin

Prof. Martín holds the position of Clinical Teacher at the PostGraduate Program of Orthodontics at the university of UCM since 1996.

 She is a specialist in Orthodontics, having completed a 3-year postgraduate program at the University Complutense of Madrid and complementary postgraduate studies at UCLA. She received her Doctorate Degree in Odontology (Dr Odont) at the University of UCM. She is a specialist in Statistics and Experimental Design, having completed a Masters’ Degree at the University Autonoma in Barcelona. Now She is also on the editorial board of the European Journal of Orthodontics. She is currently the PI of the research group “Craniofacial Biology: Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics” (BIOCRAN) officially recognized and funded by the Spanish Government. Her past responsibilities in research involved the participation in two other research groups, one dealing with masticatory muscle physiology and neuromuscular activity in different malocclusions (mainly posterior cross-bites), and the ETEP research group: a multidisciplinary research group in aetiology and therapy of periodontal diseases, that covered topics such as biology of tooth movement, antimicrobial approaches in the treatment of gingivitis, periodontitis and peri-implant infections and bone and soft tissue biology.

Dr. Daniela Garib

Dr. Daniela Garib is a Professor of Orthodontics and Chair of the Department at the Bauru Dental School and Bauru Craniofacial Center, University of São Paulo, Brazil.

 She earned her PhD in Orthodontics in 2003, focusing on the dentoskeletal and periodontal effects of rapid maxillary expansion. Prior to that, she completed a Master of Science degree in 2000, examining long-term cephalometric appraisal. Her expertise is further demonstrated through her study in Preventive and Interceptive Orthodontics and her Dental School education, both at the University of São Paulo. She has also conducted research fellowships at the University of Harvard (2004) and the University of Michigan (2016-2017), enhancing her breadth of knowledge and experience. 

In addition to her academic achievements, Dr. Garib holds leadership roles as President of the Research and Innovation Committee at the Hospital for Rehabilitation of Craniofacial Anomalies and Director of the Bauru Foundation for Dental Education. She is also an Associate Editor for Progress in Orthodontics, Orthodontics and Craniofacial Research, and Seminars in Orthodontics. Dr. Garib’s contributions extend to peer review for several esteemed journals, showcasing her commitment to advancing orthodontic knowledge and education.

Dave Preble works with volunteer leadership, national organizations and ADA agencies to develop and implement a unified strategy for the future of oral health in America.

Additionally, Dr. Preble oversees and collaborates with the leads of six ADA agencies, comprised of Education, Government Affairs, Health Policy Institute, Practice Institute, Ethics and Science.

As Interim CEO of ADASRI and Chief Science Officer he provides strategic direction, executive leadership, management oversight and accountability to ADASRI.

He is an experienced leader, and under his guidance, the ADA will make great strides in executing an oral health vision that improves public health, and at the same time, strengthens the profession.

Dr. Preble served in the following positions at the ADA during his 16-year tenure: Vice President of Practice Institute; Director of Council on Dental Benefit Programs; and Director of the Commission on Dental Accreditation.

Originally from New York State, Dr. Preble received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wis., graduated from Georgetown University Dental School in Washington, D.C., and St. Thomas University School of Law in Miami Gardens, Fla.

He has had a very successful career in Lanxin Asia and Warburg Pincus, investing in the healthcare industry. Mr. Huang is also the founding partner of CareCapital, the world’s largest PE fund specializing in dentistry. Mr. Huang has devoted recent years and his resources to philanthropy for promoting global dental health. He is the main architect for developing the multimillion-dollar CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) and EDI (Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) programs at CareCapital.

Dr. Glenn T. Sameshima is Chairman and Program Director of the Advanced Orthodontic Program at the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, California, USA, where he holds the rank of associate professor with tenure.

 He received his BS in mathematics from UCLA, DDS from UC San Francisco, and certificate in Orthodontics and PhD in Craniofacial Biology from USC. A USAF veteran, Glenn has served on the PCSO Board of Directors, Chair of the AAO Council on Education, and is currently the AAO CODA Commissioner. Dr. Kee-Joon Lee is a professor of the Department of Orthodontics, Yonsei University College of Dentistry, Seoul, South Korea. He is the current dean of the Yonsei University College of Dentistry and the president-elect of the World Implant Orthodontic Association.
 He received DDS and PhD degree at the Graduate school, College of Dentistry, Yonsei University. He completed the orthodontics specialty training in Yonsei University Dental Hospital. He was a visiting scholar at the Department of Biochemistry, University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in 2002-2004 and at the Division of Plastic Surgery, the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in 2010-2011. He was an adjunct professor at the Department of Orthodontics, University of Pennsylvania between 2016 and 2019 and at Temple University between 2010 and 2011. He has contributed many book chapters on biomechanics of miniscrew-driven orthodontics, non-extraction treatment in adults, up-to-date lingual orthodontic mechanics and surgery-first approached using TADs. He is the first who demonstrated the miniscrew-assisted rapid palatal expander (MARPE) for adults in AJO-DO, which was cited by many other authors. He has published many articles and case reports regarding the treatment of non-eruption, and total arch movement for hyperdivergent face in orthodontic journals including two cover issues in AJO-DO. His fields in research include clinical biomechanics regarding TADs application and the suture and bone responses to orthodontic stimulus. He has served as a reviewer in major orthodontic journals, including AJO-DO, Angle Orthodontists and European Journal of Orthodontics. He has been invited to many international orthodontic conferences around the world.

Dr. KI BEOM KIM
DDS, MSD, PHD, PROFESSOR, DR. LYSLE JOHNSTON ENDOWED CHAIR IN ORTHODONTICS, AND THE PROGRAM DIRECTOR IN THE ORTHODONTIC DEPARTMENT, CENTER FOR ADVANCED DENTAL EDUCATION AT SAINT LOUIS UNIVERSITY 
Dr. Ki Beom Kim is a Professor, Dr. Lysle Johnston Endowed Chair in Orthodontics, and the Program Director in the Orthodontic Department, Center for Advanced Dental Education at Saint Louis University.

He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and a Diplomate of the American Board of Orofacial Pain. He received his dental training in South Korea, finished three years of Oral Medicine training, received his Ph.D. in Orofacial Pain, and completed his orthodontic training at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He has presented many times at international and national meetings as well as published close to 100 peer-reviewed articles and multiple book chapters. Additionally, he has participated in over 120 master thesis projects over the years. He had three textbooks written.

Dr. Martin Palomo
DDS, MSD Tenured Professor and the Orthodontic Residency Director, Case Western Reserve University
Dr. J. Martin Palomo is a tenured professor and the Orthodontic Residency Director at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.

He was a member of the AAO Task Force that provided a white paper on the orthodontist's role in treating patients with Sleep Apnea. He is a board-certified orthodontist, an Angle Society member, and an active member of the American Association of Orthodontics, the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology, as well as the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.

Dr. Michael Cima
PhD David H. Koch (1962) Professor of Engineering
Dr. Michael J. Cima is a Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and has an appointment at the David H. Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research.
Professor Cima joined the MIT faculty in 1986 and has received numerous awards.  He was elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 2011 and to the National Academy of Inventors in 2016.   He now holds the David H. Koch Chair of Engineering at MIT.  He was appointed faculty director of the Lemelson-MIT Program in 2009 which is a program to inspire youth to be inventive and has a nationwide reach. He was appointed Associate Dean of Engineering in 2018 and co-director of the MIT Innovation Initiative. Prof. Cima is author or co-author of over three hundred peer reviewed scientific publications, over ninety US patents, and is a recognized expert in the field of medical devices and materials processing.  Prof. Cima has been very active in the translation of new technologies in to the clinic, including a new therapy for bladder cancer.

Dr. Phimon Atsawasuwan

Dr. Phimon Atsawasuwan is a tenured Professor at the Department of Orthodontics at the University of Illinois Chicago and a Diplomate for the American Board of Orthodontics. He also serves as the Associate Director of Orthodontics Clinical and Translational Sciences Research in the Department of Orthodontics, University of Illinois Chicago.


Dr. Atsawasuwan is a past president of the American Association of Dental Research, Chicago section, and a member of the Angle Society of Orthodontists, Eastern component, and also serves as a member of the academic committee for the Society. He is a dual-trained clinician in Orthodontics and Periodontics. He received a prestigious Thomas M. Graber Award of Special Merit from the American Association of Orthodontists. He has been invited to present his scholarly work and presentation at many domestic and international scientific and orthodontic conferences. 


He has been teaching and mentoring undergraduate, dental, and postgraduate students at the University of Illinois Chicago since 2011 and received the “Mentor of the Year award” in 2016. His postgraduate students received a prestigious Milo-Hellman Award, and the Thomas M Graber Awards of Special Merit from the American Association of Orthodontists, the Dr. William R. Proffit Resident Scholar Awards from the American Association of Orthodontists and numerous Research Aid Awards from the American Association of Orthodontists Foundation.


Dr. Atsawasuwan’s research interest emphasizes the biology of tooth movement, craniofacial/bone biology, microRNAs, and advances in orthodontic treatment. His research involves clinical, bench-top molecular biology, and animal research. He received numerous research funds from the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research, the American Association of Orthodontists Foundation, the University of Illinois Chicago, and many private organizations. He has served as an Ad-hoc Reviewer, R01 and R21 study section for Oral, Dental, and Craniofacial Sciences Study Section, NIH, and Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) site visitor for Postgraduate Orthodontics.


He is a notable author and has published book chapters and an extensive list of research articles and case reports in several peer-reviewed journals. He also serves on the editorial board and as an ad-hoc reviewer for many peer-reviewed scientific and orthodontic journals.

Dr. Ravindra Nanda

Dr. Ravindra Nanda is an Emeritus Professor in the Division of Orthodontics at the School of Dental Medicine, UConn Health, where he has been a faculty member since 1972 and was part of its founding team.
He also serves as an adjunct faculty member at the ADA Forsyth Institute in Cambridge, USA and the Emeritus Editor-in-Chief of Progress in Orthodontics. A pioneering innovator in orthodontics, he has developed various appliances and contributed extensively to the field. His research and clinical interests encompass adolescent and adult orthodontics, the biology of tooth mobility, craniofacial orthopedics, biomechanics, and the development of efficient mechanics to enhance orthodontic treatment.

Dr. Raymond A. Cohlmia
D.D.S. Secretary and Executive Director
Dr. Raymond Cohlmia is currently serving as Executive Director of the American Dental Association. He graduated with a Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry in 1988. He was in private practice for 27 years with his father and brother, while also holding a faculty appointment at the College of Dentistry. He served as Assistant Dean for Clinical Operations from 2013 to 2015 and was appointed as Dean of the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry from 2015 to 2021 and concurrently remained in the practice of dentistry during that time.
Dr. Cohlmia has served as a delegate to the American Dental Association and Twelfth District Trustee from 2015 to 2019. Along with his involvement and leadership in academia, he has served in many capacities, including presidencies at the local and state level, served on many national councils, committees, and task forces for the American Dental Association, as well as many other dental organizations.

Dr. Baek was trained in Department of Orthodontics, Seoul National University Hospital and got MSD and PhD from Seoul National University in Seoul, Korea. He is Professor, Department of Orthodontics, School of Dentistry, Seoul National University; President of Korean Association of Orthodontists (2022-2024); and Past President of Korean Cleft lip and Palate Association (2017-2019).

In addition, he is a member of Editorial Review Board of Angle Orthodontist, a Peer reviewer of AJODO, EJO, PIO and other journals, and an Associate Editor in Orthodontic Craniofacial Research and AJODO-Clinical Companion. He received a 2009 CDABO Case report of the year in Boston AAO meeting and gave presentations in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2023, and 2024 AAO meetings. He published more than 200 articles in prestigious orthodontic and surgical journals and around 50 books. His subspecialty is diagnosis and treatment of Class III malocclusion, cleft and craniofacial anomalies, and artificial intelligence.

Dr. Sath Allareddy serves as Professor, Department Head of Orthodontics and Brodie Craniofacial Endowed Chair at University of Illinois Chicago College of Dentistry.
 His area of clinical expertise is Cleft Lip/Palate and Craniofacial Orthodontics and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. His research interests include big data analytics, artificial intelligence-based applications, and practice-based research. Dr. Allareddy serves as the Director of the Specialty Node of National Dental Practice-Based Research Network and is a member of the Rapid Assessment of Evidence Panel and Planning and Awards Review Committee of the American Association of Orthodontists Foundation. Dr. Wenyuan Shi serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Forsyth Institute since 2017, having previously held the position of Chief Scientific.

 Prior to his leadership at Forsyth, Dr. Shi held distinguished roles, including Chairman and Professor of Oral Biology at UCLA Schools of Dentistry, and Professor of Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics at UCLA School of Medicine for over 20 years. Dr. Shi has led numerous NIH grants focusing on multidisciplinary approaches to investigate oral microbial pathogenesis, particularly in microbial biofilm, inter-species interaction, and signal transduction. His laboratory is actively engaged in developing advanced diagnostic and therapeutic tools against oral microbial infections, including chairside detection of oral pathogens and peptide-based targeted antimicrobial therapeutics. These translational research efforts have led to the development and licensing of novel technologies by major pharmaceutical, dental, and biotech companies. Dr. Shi is the founding scientist and former Chief Scientific Officer and Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board of C3J Therapeutics Inc., now known as Armata Pharmaceuticals, listed on NYSE. Dr. Shi earned his BS degree from Fudan University (Shanghai) in 1984, followed by a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1991. He completed his postdoctoral training at the University of California-Berkeley from 1992 to 1995. With over 200 scientific articles and 40 patents and patent applications, Dr. Shi has made significant contributions to the field of oral biology and microbial pathogenesis.

Prof. Yijin Ren (DMD, MSc, PhD, MBA) is the head of Orthodontics at the University Medical Centre Groningen (UMCG), University of Groningen. She is also the program director for specialist training in orthodontics.

Prof. Ren maintains an active practice treating patients born with cleft lip and palate, as well as other craniofacial anomalies. She is a consultant orthodontist on the Cleft Lip and Palate Team of Northern Netherlands.

Prof. Ren’s research interests cover (oral) biofilms and biomaterials, tissue reactions during tooth movement, treatment of cleft lip and palate, and 3D imaging and technology. She has published and lectured extensively on her research in these fields.

Prof. Ren has an h-index of 57, with over 12,000 citations. She serves as a board member in several renowned national and international professional organizations and as an editorial member/associate editor for various scientific journals. She is the chairperson of the Orthodontics Consilium in the Netherlands, and President-Elect 2029 of the EOS.

Additionally, Dr Bai holds the titles of Deputy Editor-in-Chief for the Chinese Journal of Stomatology and Chinese Journal of Orthodontics, as well as Editor-in-Chief for the Beijing Journal of Stomatology and Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Restoration. Dr. Bai is a State Council allowance recipient and was recognized as one of the young and middle-aged experts who have made outstanding contributions by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, the National Health Commission and Beijing.
