The 24th Annual Meeting of the Chinese Orthodontic Society

COS (Chinese Orthodontic Society) is one of the world’s preeminent orthodontics research and clinical care organization dedicated to the prevention and treatment of malocclusion. Its objective is precisely what IOF continues to pursue. In order to implement mutual understanding, IOF was work as a key partner with COS to support its annual academic meeting held in Changsha, China, on November 5th to 8th, 2025. The COS annual meeting is a national event in China, attracting nearly 6,000 participants across a wide range of research, scientific, and clinical backgrounds, all focused on improving outcomes for patients.

Prof. Ravindra Nanda

Prof. Ravindra Nanda is an Emeritus Professor in the Division of Orthodontics at the School of Dental Medicine, UConn Health, where he has been a faculty member since 1972 and was part of its founding team.
He also serves as an adjunct faculty member at the ADA Forsyth Institute in Cambridge, USA and the Emeritus Editor-in-Chief of Progress in Orthodontics. A pioneering innovator in orthodontics, he has developed various appliances and contributed extensively to the field. His research and clinical interests encompass adolescent and adult orthodontics, the biology of tooth mobility, craniofacial orthopedics, biomechanics, and the development of efficient mechanics to enhance orthodontic treatment.

Dr. Flavio Uribe
Full-time Professor and Chair of the Department of Orthodontics at UConn
Dr. Uribe received his Master’s degree and Certificate in Orthodontics from the University of Connecticut after receiving his DDS degree from the CES University in Medellin, Colombia. He also completed a 3- year residency and fellowship program at the Advanced Education in General Dentistry Program at the University of Connecticut. Dr. Uribe is a Full-time Professor and Chair of the Department of Orthodontics at UConn. Dr. Uribe is also an Honorary Professor of The University of Jordan.

He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and member of the Edward H Angle Society of Orthodontists.  He was a member of the Council of Scientific Affairs for the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO). Dr. Uribe is a section editor of the Book Temporary Anchorage Devices in Orthodontics, co-editor of the book Atlas of Complex Orthodontics and of the new edition of Temporary Anchorage Devices in Orthodontics.  Dr. Uribe has authored and coauthored numerous book chapters and articles in peer-reviewed journals. He is a past recipient of the Biomedical Research Award from the AAO Foundation in 2012 and 2019.  Dr. Uribe holds the Ravi Nanda Endowed Chair at the University of Connecticut.

Dr. Martin Palomo
DDS, MSD Tenured Professor and the Orthodontic Residency Director, Case Western Reserve University
Dr. J. Martin Palomo is a tenured professor and the Orthodontic Residency Director at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.

He was a member of the AAO Task Force that provided a white paper on the orthodontist's role in treating patients with Sleep Apnea. He is a board-certified orthodontist, an Angle Society member, and an active member of the American Association of Orthodontics, the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology, as well as the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.

Dr. Dawei Liu
Orthodontic Program Director and Research Director, Marquette University
Dr. Dawei Liu received his DDS (1990), MS (1994) from China Medical University, PhD (1997) from Peking University in China, and MSc. Ortho and Certificate in Orthodontics (2007) from Marquette University in the US. In 1999, he accepted the invitation from Dr. Birte Melsen and worked as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Orthodontics, Arhus University, Denmark. Moving to the US in 2002, Dr. Liu continued his academic career at the Departments of Orthodontics at Indiana University (2002-2005) and Marquette University (2005-now), where he is the Orthodontic Program Director and Research Director. Dr. Liu was promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in 2012 and Professor in 2023.

Besides teaching and clinical practice, Dr. Liu has been actively involved in research on mechanotransduction in bone and mineralized tissues. His research has been supported by the Association of American Orthodontics Foundation (AAOF), the European Orthodontic Society (EOS), and funded by the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) on the project entitled "Application of mechanical vibration to enhance orthodontic tooth movement." As a grant reviewer, Dr. Liu serves at the Center for Scientific Review, National Institute of Health. Dr. Liu is an ABO-certified orthodontist and ABO examiner. Dr. Liu is an active member of the Angle Society, AAO, ABO, EOS, Tweed Foundation, the American Society of Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR), and the Orthopedic Research Society (ORS). Dr. Liu is a member of the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics (AJODO) editorial board and a reviewer for several other basic science and clinical journals.

Dr. Chung How Kau
Professor and Chair of Orthodontics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Senior Scientist at both the Global Center for Craniofacial Disorders and UAB Microbiome Center.
Dr. Chung How Kau is Professor and Chair of Orthodontics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and Senior Scientist at both the Global Center for Craniofacial Disorders and UAB Microbiome Center.

A Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, he is also licensed as a specialist orthodontist in Singapore and the UK.

He directs the Craniofacial Orthodontia Clinic and serves on the Cleft Craniofacial Team at Children’s Hospital of Alabama, with clinical interests in craniofacial anomalies and dento-facial deformities.

His translational research focuses on technology-driven orthodontics, 4D jaw tracking, and accelerated tooth movement, with over $4M in NIH and industry funding.

Dr. Kau has authored over 450 scientific works and delivered more than 175 invited lectures across 50+ countries, earning him the King James IV Professorship from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
