About this Course

Orthodontic treatment for patients with temporomandibular joint disease (TMD), which exists in a significant proportion of orthodontic patients, is currently a hot topic. The first case presents with dental discrepancy, skeletal discrepancy, and TMD and focuses on four aspects of the patient's diagnosis and treatment.

1.  Diagnosis and treatment of upper and lower arch width discrepancy

2.  Diagnosis and treatment of patients with skeletal Class II short facial type

3.  Etiology, symptoms, diagnosis, and evaluation of corresponding treatment of TMD

4.  Feasibility of mandibular position adjustment in patients with TMD

 

The second case focuses on skeletal class II patients with temporomandibular joint osteoarthritis. Via vertical control to improve camouflage orthodontic treatment and to explore the proper method to deal with different cases.

Dr. Weiran Li is the Vice President of the Orthodontic Society of the Chinese Stomatological Association and Vice President of the Oral Society of the China Medical Education Association.
She is the Standing Committee Member of the Cleft Lip and Palate Committee of the Chinese Stomatological Association and also the Standing Committee Member of the Sleep Committee of the China Medical Promotion and Foreign Exchange Association. Dr Li is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Children‘s Sleep, Branch of China Sleep Research Association and Executive Director of the Beijing Stomatological Association. She also holds the position of Deputy President of the Orthodontic Society of Beijing Stomatological Association, and a member of the Standing Committee of the Aesthetics Committee and Academician of the International College of Dentists. She is also a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK Committee Member, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Chinese Journal of Orthodontics and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Orthodontics Craniofacial Research.

Dr.Yi Liu received his undergraduate degree in dentistry from Peking University School and Hospital of Stomatology in 1996 and his PhD in orthodontics in 2002, where he has been teaching since then.
He is a member of the editorial board of Chinese Journal of Orthodontics, a member of the editorial board of Chinese Journal of Practical Stomatology, a reviewer of Chinese Journal of Stomatology, Beijing Journal of Stomatology, Orthodontics and Craniofacial Research and other journals.

Research interests: application of oral 3D digital technology in orthodontics, orthodontic treatment of craniomandibular disorder and TMJ disorder TMD, early orthodontic treatment. He has published more than 50 articles, co-edited 8 books and written textbooks, and translated 1 book. He has obtained 5 national patents, presided over 1 national 863 project, 1 national natural fund, and 1 provincial and ministerial research fund project.

Dr.Xuedong Wang graduated from Peking University School and Hospital of Stomatology. He is the first double doctors of dentistry in China; young committee member of the Orthodontic Society of the Chinese Stomatological Association, committee member of the Temporomandibular Joint Pathology and (Odontology) Society of the Chinese Stomatological Association.
He has published 18 SCI papers as the first and corresponding author, IF total: 60; presided over 2 National Natural Science Foundation of China and 1 Capital Characteristic Foundation of Beijing Municipal Science Committee. He won the first prize of 2016 National Young Teachers of Dentistry Teaching Skills Exhibition Competition.
